Chicagoland Houses of Worship Awarded for Welcoming People
with Disabilities
The following congregations in the Chicago area have been the recipients of
Open Hearts Awards since the program’s inaugural year in 1998. No awards
program was sponsored in 1999. In 2000 and 2001, first and second place awards
were granted in three categories:
Affirmation,
Communication and
Accessibility.
Currently awards are granted to congregations that show outstanding
leadership in welcoming persons with disabilities into all aspects of faith
life.
